Mercedes-Benz X-Class Shoots Ahead Of The Competition
Lancashire Life|March 2018

An annual shooting weekend organised by Bury-based Lynden Page certainly went with a bang, thanks to a ‘fully loaded’ Mercedes-Benz X-Class provided by North-West Dealer Ciceley Commercials Ltd.

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Shoots Ahead Of The Competition

THE X-Class is the first pickup produced by Mercedes-Benz and enters the market firmly at the premium end of this competitive sector. The model loaned to Mr Page and James Obertelli, from Bolton, was a top-specification X250 d Power.

X-Class models are only just appearing on the UK’s roads after a buzz of excitement surrounding their launch – around a thousand customers even handed over £1,000 deposit payments to secure their orders, without having seen the vehicle ‘in the metal’.

Mr Page became one of the first in the country to get his hands on a coveted set of X-Class keys when he picked up Ciceley  Commercials’ newly-arrived demonstrator from Sales Executive, Rob Claringbold, at the company’s Blackburn dealership. His plan; to put it through its paces on a shooting weekend on the island of Anglesey, North Wales.

First impressions count highly with any vehicle that wants to be aspirational, and the X-Class lived up to its star billing. “Straight away I could see it was extremely well finished; a step up from what you would expect in the pickup sector,” he says.

But how would it be to drive? The route to the shoot took in stretches of motorway and dual-carriageway, as well as twisty and  hilly country roads – the X-Class took all in its very capable stride.
