Not Resting On Their Laurels

This Charnock Richard venue already has an impressive reputation and there are plans to develop it further

Turn off the A49 into the tree-lined approach to The Laurels, just north of Charnock Richard, and you instantly sense the attention to detail at the multi-faceted venue. Even the drive beneath your wheels sounds right, the signs are clear, and the ample parking places are welcoming rather than a struggle. It sets you at ease from the off, whether you’re there for a meal, an event, a business or social function, to play golf… or some combination of those options.

‘Our motto is eat-drink-relax,’ says director Wayne Bretherton.

‘The relax part is very important to us. When Stephen and Kerry Storey – who live in the village here – bought the site, it had been derelict for five years, and they’ve invested heavily to make The Laurels something the area can be proud of, where people feel comfortable the moment they arrive. At the same time we want to offer something a bit different to set us apart.’
