Rescuing a tiny, accidental immigrant!

Celery the Snail
I work in the produce department of a large food market, where my main job is to look after the “green wall” where fresh produce that needs spraying and cooling during the day is kept.

One day in December 2019, I was trimming unpackaged celery when what I thought was a small stone fell from a stalk. I picked it up to put it in the trash and realized that it wasn’t a stone at all, but a tiny snail. Considering the time of year and the likely outcome for the tiny snail, I placed the little guy in a container with a few trim leaves, and put it in my locker for the day.
