Working From Home – from home

I’ve ‘worked from home’ for years, though I’ve now discovered that what I always meant by that, was working in coffee shops. ‘I can’t possibly work from home,’ I’d say. ‘Too many distractions.’ I’d mean the washing machine, books, Netflix, that bit of hoovering, a potter about, rearranging pens on my desk, and any further procrastination techniques. Anything that helped avoid doing the work of a writer, which it turns out is to actually write things. Somehow I’ve written nine books and co-written a hundred episodes of TV shows, though how I’ve finished a single sentence is a downright miracle.
