Trending autumn styles in children’s clothing.
Just like adult fashion, trends in kids' clothing change every season. According to local experts, fall will bring about fun styles for kids in the Triangle. Local retail clothing and consignment owners who see new fashion lines before the rest of us offer insight on trends we can expect to see as the leaves begin to fall.
COLOR SHIFTS
The first sign of fall fashion? Color shifts. “The biggest way we usually see the transition from summer to fall is with the color palette,” says Suzanne Stewart, owner of Patty whacks in Cary. For fall, we tried to keep our color palette in navy, olive, fuchsia and mustards.”
And brown is making a fall comeback. “I’ve heard that brown will be the new black,” says Gail Walker, owner of Kids Every WEAR Consignment in Morrisville. “Brown was hip about 10 years ago, so no surprise that it will make its way back around.” Couch florals and bolder plaids will also be back in style, Walker adds.
Jewel tones and metallic prints will also be prevalent in fall lines. “Rich jewel tones are always popular in fall, and this year some styles have fun pops of neon,” says Christina Bohanek, owner of Glee Kids in Chapel Hill. “We also have some fun metallic prints that I think will be very popular.”
