She knows that teachers are the key to a good educational blueprint. Known for her reforms in the government school system, Atishi chalks out the roadmap ahead in her conversation with Anindita Ghosh
Atishi’s (as she now prefers to be called having dropped her last name—Marlena) liberal outlook and social consciousness were shaped by her upbringing in the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Delhi University where her parents were professors. After completing her schooling from Springdales School, she went on to study history at St Stephen’s College. Post that, Atishi studied at Oxford University on a Chevening scholarship. After returning to India, Atishi began teaching History and English at Rishi Valley School in Andhra Pradesh. In 2006, she moved to a village near Bhopal to work on progressive education systems and also became part of several NGOs. It was during this time that she met some members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and in 2013, became associated with the party and its policy formulation wing.
