In 2018, Hima Das made the world sit up and take notice when she became the first Indian athlete to clinch gold at an international track event. The ace sprinter from Assam earned that distinction by winning the 400m race at the IAAF World U-20 Athletics Championships in Tampere, Finland. Shortly after, Das bagged silver at the 400m final, and gold at the 4x400m relay event during the 2018 Asian Games.
