Don't Overlook Childhood Obesity!

The prevalence of obesity in children as a hazardous health concern has reached a stage where, today, every growing child who is over their body mass index (BMI) ratio is at risk of developing non-communicable diseases such as diabetes mellitus, polycystic ovaries, cardio-vascular syndromes, hypertension and even cancer at a very young age. “I knew I was becoming uncomfortable in my own skin, but I was too young to understand how ‘uncomfortable’ is too uncomfortable,” says Priyasha Moitra, a biotechnology student in Kolkata who shared her experience about what is one of the most common health issues among children— childhood obesity.
