In her forties, Shilpa Shetty Kundra is looking and feeling better than ever and it’s all down to a shift in perspectives.
Just days ahead of her 42nd birthday, when we caught up with Shilpa Shetty Kundra at the Femina cover shoot, we noticed the entrepreneur, fitness guru, TV personality and mother of a five year-old, looked glowing and contented. It’s no accident. “I believe in exercise, eating well, drinking lots of water, sleeping and being around people who make you feel good. I think I look better than I did 10 years ago,” she says, before breaking into that famous, full throated laugh. Shetty Kundra isn’t anymore immune to health issues than the rest of us; she’s been diagnosed with osteopenia, a weakening of the bones, and when she was pregnant with son Viaan Raj, she put on 32 kg. Her mantra? “Listen to your body and make changes even before you’re down with an ailment.” Through our conversation, she revealed the super food she’s currently obsessed with, the one diet tip she swears by, and what we can expect from her second book.
You’re in the best shape of your life. What do you attribute it to?
The way I look today is an amalgamation of a better understanding of my body, lifestyle modifications, which include changes in the way I think and approach work, and experience. When you’re young, you are focusing on everything except your life and health.
What led to these lifestyle changes?
