Helping Your Pets Find Peace At Diwali

The festival of lights is around the corner. It's an occasion for happiness, cheer and excitement. But, sadly, not for pets and other animals on the streets. Our festivals are often their nightmares. The noise and smoke from fireworks can startle and disorient them, and lead them to be displaced. Although the noise factor is reduced thanks to the pandemic, animals still need special attention at this time. Here are some ways you can ensure your furry friends and strays are protected and calm.

Isolate Them Comfortably

The first step to helping your pet not get anxious and disturbed by the noise is by identifying a cosy corner of your home in which they feel safe and secure. That sense of security is vital when there are loud fireworks. To safeguard pets, I encourage pet parents to not burst any form of crackers, advises Anushka Iyer, founder and CEO of Wiggles.in, a preventative pet care brand with a range of services and products tailor-made for pets. Secondly, try and cancel out the noise by isolating them in a comfortable corner of the house with their earmuffs, favourite toys, bed, treats and a bowl of clean water. Additionally, she also suggests keeping the windows and doors closed to minimise noise.
