WEARABLE ART

This season, runways allowed for fashion and art to comfortably intersect. From Moschino's Baroque-inspired surrealist designs to Loewe's Neo-modern design sensibilities, and every abstract print in between, the message was clear: If you like art, you better start wearing it.

BACK TO BASICS

Everyday denim, tank tops and vests that are otherwise dominating concrete urban sidewalks have been brought to the runway and lauded for their versatility. Bottega Veneta is declaring skinny denim dead with its slouchy straight-leg version, and, at Alaïa, they've only become more dramatic. Vests can be dressy if you swap your denim for leather pants and skirts as seen at Chloé and Prada.

BLING DYNASTY

Pearls, sequins, bugle beads - in short, any and every paillette that shines - have been used to create party-worthy looks to counteract the morose, COVID-induced general mood. LaQuan Smith's body-hugging column dress with cut-outs, Givenchy's mini-dress made purely with pearls, and the crystal skirt set at Miu Miu are our absolute favourites.
