SHOOTINGSTAR
POST HER GRAND DEBUT IN BUNTY AUR BABLI 2, SHARVARI WAGH IS AIMING FOR THE STARS IN 2022. BY AISHWARYA ACHARYA
Atiger emoji sits comfortably next to her name on her Instagram handle. While this seems quite unusual for an actor (or anyone, really), we quickly realise it is because her last name translates to tiger in English. Bollywood newcomer Sharvari Wagh has already started making waves for her acting, but even more so for her charming personality. Behind that composed and genteel demeanour, we see flashes of the fierce talent that she has. Tiger-like, just like her last name.
Although we saw her first in the Amazon Prime Video series The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye with Sunny Kaushal and then in her big Bollywood break in Bunty Aur Babli 2 alongside Rani Mukherji, Saif Ali Khan and Siddhant Chaturvedi, Wagh’s first tryst with the industry actually happened much earlier, albeit behind the scenes. She started as an assistant director on Bajirao Mastani, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, while auditioning with Yash Raj since 2015 before she landed the big role in the sequel to the iconic movie.
Besides being lauded for a great performance in her first theatrical release, she is scoring brownie points for her fashion game on screen as well as off it. While the release of her next project, Maharaja, with Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, is yet to be announced, the year ahead sure seems exciting and positive for her.
What are your learnings from 2021 to take on 2022?
2021 was a very exciting year for me since my first film Bunty aur Babli 2 released in the theatres. My takeaway from it is to be grounded while aiming for the stars – a mantra I am taking with me into 2022.
What next? What should we be looking forward to from you?
