The Luxury Cruiser
Don’t we love big, brawny SUVs! Jeep’s Compass proved to be one of the first. The Meridian is now the most important model in India after the Compass. It slots into a segment where there isn’t much competition. The Meridian is a 7-seater SUV based on the Compass. But the good thing is that, Jeep hasn’t just bolted on a third row in the Compass. The Meridian is bigger than the Compass in every way.
The Meridian is 364mm longer than the Compass at 4,769mm. Wheelbase is also extended at 2,782mm – 146mm more than the Compass. In fact, the Meridian’s wheelbase is the longest in its class.
Around the Meridian, there’s a good amount of chrome. The Meridian’s proportions are spoton. The blacked out roof and D-pillar enhance the appeal of the SUV. At the rear, you get ultra slim
I tail-light clusters. The Meridian’s 18-inch wheels and chunky 235/55 section tyres match the proportions of the car.
Inside, the dashboard is familiar, but the Meridian gets a two-tone, brown and black colour scheme which gives a very upmarket feel. The quality of the materials, usage of chrome and solid feel of everything, including door handles in chrome, screams premiumness. Tech-wise, there’s an all-digital instrument cluster and a user-friendly 10.1-inch infotainment system that has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 360-degree camera.
