Meghan for president of the United States? With support from the likes of Oprah and the Obamas, even her halfbrother thinks it’s not as farfetched as it sounds

EYE ON THE TOP JOB

FIRST she was Meghan Markle, Suits actress. Then she was Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, captivator of Prince Harry’s heart, a woman who rocked The Firm to the very core of its formidable foundations.

And in future she could well end up being President Markle, leader of the Free World, occupier of the Oval Office, with Harry the first gentleman of the United States, Archie (2) and Lilibet (5 months) the first children and her beloved pooches the first dogs.

Sound a little far-fetched? Maybe not. Meghan is ambitious, loves a platform, enjoys public speaking, campaigns for issues she feels passionate about and has confidence oozing from every pore.

Even her half-brother believes she has what it takes. Thomas Markle Jnr has been less than complimentary about his sister in the past but he recently admitted “Meghan for president” wasn’t such a preposterous concept to picture.

“She has that personality and that determination and drive,” Thomas (55) says. “It wouldn’t surprise me if she ran for president. I just know what endeavour she endures and puts her hands on, she’ll do good things. Absolutely if that’s what she’s going to put her sights on, she’ll go for it. She’s always gone after her dreams.”

Royal biographer Tom Bower says Meghan (40) has what it takes to embark on a 10-year plan to the White House.

“With the support of Democrat godfathers the Clintons and the Obamas, Meghan should have little difficulty getting nominated as one of [California’s] 40 congressmen and -women sent to Washington,” he wrote in Britain’s The Sun newspaper.
