ELLE Singapore|June 2020

How Have Our Relationships Weathered the Pandemic?

THE SOCIAL HOMEBODY

I don’t want to jinx it, but so far (we are about one month in as of press time) I am really enjoying this circuit breaker period for many reasons. The “office” is one minute away, the coffee machine is next to my desk, and most importantly, I get to spend more time at home. I’m a homebody to begin with. Pre-circuit breaker, I would opt to spend most of my weekends at home, inviting my friends to visit. So to me, staying home is really not a “restriction” but something I really enjoy. I am where I want to be, with the people I want to spend time with. I live with my husband, and my little family also includes our dog and four cats — having them around really helps to keep the rhythm of the day interesting. We’ve never really spent so much time with our pets so I’m sure they are adapting as well, and I hope they’re enjoying it as much as I am. Just the other day my husband told me how our dog would be so sad when I finally return to the office. My heart broke a little.
