A SONG OF LIGHT AND WATER
Once upon a time in Montreux, researchers at La Prairie glimpsed the beauty of pure sunlight playing against the dynamic waters of Lake Geneva and were instantly captivated by this reflective brilliance. From the winking surface glimmers to the refraction of light that bounced back from the lake’s mineral depths, this dazzling fluidity created by the confluence of two vastly different elements was deemed a magical encounter of light and water. Ever since, the Swiss luxury skincare house has sought to recreate this unique illumination for the skin, in order to restore and bring out its innate glow.
Enter the White Caviar collection in 2019 when La Prairie scientists introduced the world to the term “Equation of Light”, which determined that the luminosity of the skin can be defined by the function of colour and reflection. In other words, what the scientists discovered was that your skin’s colour spectrum is made up of naturally occurring pigments associated with the various layers of your skin. As you age, these pigments become more pronounced, diminishing your skin’s natural luminosity, because of external stress factors such as pollution, free radicals, and UV rays from sun exposure.
