You may know her as Chriselle the stylish girlboss behind the fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog, The Chriselle Factor that was established eight years ago. Or you may have followed her since her debut on YouTube in 2011, where she first shared fashion tips (her very first video on summer essentials has garnered 419,000 views to date!). But rewind give or take 17 years earlier and you’ll be surprised to find out that the phenomenal fashion force you see today wasn’t always this way. “I was one of the few Asian girls in high school so I always felt that I was very different. I felt like I couldn’t fit in so I made fashion my armour and turned it into a tool to feel confident and strong when I wasn’t,” she shares. “I always made it a point to be well-dressed at school so people would compliment me for my outfit first instead of looking at me because I looked so different. I even got named best-dressed in high school. That’s how I discovered the power of what an outfit can do to your confidence and how other people can perceive you based on what you wear.”
