Meet Nomalanga ‘The Flame’ Shozi, the actress and presenter taking the local industry by storm
You could be forgiven for calling 23-year-old Nomalanga Shozi an overnight success. Born in Port Shepstone, KZN, Shozi always knew she wanted to be in the spotlight. While completing her studies in PR, she landed a gig as a radio DJ at Gagasi FM in 2015. A year later, she beat 5 000 hopefuls to land the role of Nomalanga in Rhythm City and went on to host Umswenko on MTV Base. Some would call it destiny, but that ignores the hard work it took to get there. We caught up with the talented young actress to learn what drives her.
GQ: When did you decide to pursue a career in the media?
NOMALANGA SHOZI: I think I have always known that my life would take the route that it has, although I can’t say I anticipated the speed at which it progressed.
