At Il Borro, their impeccable estate in Tuscany, the Ferragamo family have created a haven of luxurious living, fine dining, and absolute beauty.
MEDIEVAL HAMLETS, PICTURE-POSTCARD VILLAGES, WINERIES set amidst rolling hills, award-winning wines, secret places yet to be discovered, and unmatched beauty all around—Tuscany can take your breath away. And just when you think it doesn’t get any better, there’s Il Borro, a 1,700-acre estate that dates back to the 13 th century.
The first record of the Il Borro castle is from 1254 AD when it was purchased by the Marquis Borro Borri, the mayor of Arezzo. It stayed in the family for several generations and then exchanged hands with the Medicis from Florence, the Toriani family of Milan, and finally the Savoy dynasty from Turin in 1904. Ferruccio Ferragamo, son of the famous couturier and footwear designer, bought the estate in 1993 after the family had rented it for some time. He and his son, Salvatore, who is the present CEO of the company, have restored and refurbished the estate, managing to preserve its traditions and history, while adding modern amenities and furnishing it in true Ferragamo style. Today, Il Borro is a Relais & Châteaux property.
