LIGHTS! CAMERA! COUTURE!

There's a reason Cate Blanchett regularly tops the red-carpet best-dressed list, and this paint-by-numbers gown is no exception. The Australian actor attended Mary Katrantzou's 2018 show and approached the designer to work together on her dress. Six months in the making, the playful look was inspired by nostalgic childhood pastimes. Katrantzou says Blanchett was heavily involved throughout the process: "She was incredible to work with, clear in her vision, yet open with her creative approach."

2016

DATE NIGHT

A loved-up George and Amal Clooney canoodled their way down the carpet as they attended the premiere for his film Money Monster. The actor fawned over his wife of two years as he helped her navigate the way in her pale-yellow Versace Atelier frock and Jimmy Choos before swooping her in for a romantic kiss, sending the photographer pit into a frenzy.

1955

ROYAL ROMANCE

It was the chance meeting that might never have happened ... When Olivia de Havilland heard Grace Kelly was on the same overnight train headed for the Cote d'Azur, she asked if she would agree to a meeting with Prince Rainier at the festival. Kelly said yes, and the rest is history. This picture was taken on the day Kelly and Rainier met; a year later they were married and Kelly gave up acting to become Princess Grace of Monaco.
