Being Healthy will generally make you Happy.
Let’s make this personal. Shall we? Recently, I wrote an article on my wellness blog (Tizi Talks) about mental health and how embracing a healthy lifestyle, can significantly build mental resilience. Investing in your health has been proven to be one of the keys to both happiness and success; and this is a truth that cannot be rebutted. I am an Advocate, so allow me to prove my case with facts.
After failing my bar exams twice, going through a horrible break up and being miserable at my workplace, I felt like the world was against me. It was the worst period of my life and I was unhappy for a prolonged time. It showed in my tone of voice, my physique, and worst of all, my attitude. So one day, I woke up and purposed to start making healthier choices in how I dealt with my stress, and yes, small changes begun to occur. My hairline grew back, my nails were stronger, and my outlook on life slowly became positive. I could feel myself becoming happy again. That is when I discovered the mirror relationship between good health and happiness.
Have you heard of endorphins? It’s one of the most powerful hormones you can trigger in your body. Endorphins are the happy hormones that get released during exercise, often causing a wave of pleasure and generally putting you in a good mood. This is why exercise is the most highly recommended method of dealing with stress. These happy hormones trigger a positive feeling in the body which is accompanied by a positive and energising outlook towards life.
