A 230-year old Fort converts in to a luxurious hotel
Alila Fort (in Bishangarh, Rajasthan) is a perfect example of Indian exquisiteness, with a blend of traditionalistic infrastructure and subtle modernity in its styling. Here is a glimpse of the much talked about luxurious hotel …
Built inside the 230-year –old Fort Bishangarh (close to the city of Jaipur) this gorgeous and heritage site took almost a decade to complete. “The biggest challenge was to reach the fort as there was no road leading towards it. There were several monkeys, snakes, bats, and it was an arduous task to go up there. We used to climb up the rocks to reach there. It was tough to even conceive the idea that this fort could ever be turned into a hotel,” says architect Ritu Khandelwal. She along with architect Sandeep Khdandelwal, have been instrumental in revamping the whole place. It took nine long years to witness the completion of this challenging project!
High up on a granite hill, amidst Aravalis, approximately 300 miles starting from the northwest to the southwest direction, this fort starts in Rajasthan in western India and extends all the way to Delhi. The fort was built by members of the ShahpuraShekhawat clan owing allegiance to the Amer (Jaipur) Royals.
Much awaited event of 2017
The opening of this fort was one of the most awaited events in February 2017. This is Alila’s second property in India, first being Goa.
