“Our bodies are where we live every day. It’s our duty to take care of them now, so that they continue to take care of us,” says Chad Henson. The co-founder of MoveFit works hard to maintain his body. The passing of a good friend reaffirmed his beliefs. His friend was an Ironman athlete at the peak of his physical fitness before he lost his battle against leukemia. Chad watches his grandfather fight Parkinson’s disease daily. “It’s made me even more grateful to have the healthy, able body that I do have, that allows me to move however I want to and need to.”

Watching others struggle with their health shifted Chad’s perception around exercise and training. “Having a healthy body is a privilege, not a given. We shouldn’t wait to have a problem healthwise before we truly look after ourselves.” For Chad, working out is about more than just looking good. It’s about how you feel in your body, every single day.

An attitude his brother Devon shares. Growing up, the pair were encouraged to be active by their father, Craig. He spent his spare moments pursuing a healthy lifestyle and keeping fit. Chad started weight training in the gym at the age of 16. Inspired by his older brother’s pursuits, Devon soon followed suit. Craig kept a careful eye over his sons’ progression in the gym. “He wouldn’t let me lift any weights until I was able to do a certain number of pull-ups, dips and push-ups,” explains Devon.

The brothers’ gym routines supplemented the training they did for the sports they played. Both of them participated in as many sports as possible, with water polo and rugby being their main focus.
