In nature, gold can be found in mountainous regions, in places where local streams have large boulders and river sediments that rest on rocky substratum, which is the rock that forms the surrounding mountains. Gold prospecting in these contexts tends to be different and, in some ways, more difficult but notably interesting. It is possible to find nuggets, granules, or specks of gold with greater probability. In the following paragraphs, we will discuss together different concepts to further deepen the possibility to find your own gold.
In the area of a mountain stream, gold prospecting is highly recommended where bedrock outcrops. Gold, if present, should be concentrated naturally in the crevices, especially the most depressed and orthogonally positioned depending on the directional flow of the stream.
Over time, the river erodes the bedrock and then deepens its course. It is recommended to look for exposed bedrock near the river, but you should always look at the side banks in case there may be interesting situations, especially in the presence of large boulders within the deposit. In case the crevices are currently submerged in the water, you can wait for dry seasons. If not, it is possible to look for gold in submerged crevices through a technique called sniping.
