MAKE IT TO SKATE IT

EASY STEPS TO YOUR SKATEBOARD

Gather your supplies

• 70 x 35 x 900mm pine (12)

• 2440 x 900 x 4mm hardwood plywood

• Recycled skateboard trucks, nuts and bolts

• Grip tape

You’ll also need

Pencil; jigsaw; medium-grade sandpaper; sanding block; drill and bit to suit bolts; 60mm screws; circular saw; exterior PVA glue; plastic; clamps; clear varnish; paintbrush; screwdriver; ratchet and socket; sharp knife

Here’s how

STEP 1 To make jig that will bend plywood into shape, draw profile of skateboard deck down centre of one length of pine. Make centre of board curve up by about 10mm. Start tail about 120mm from end and make it 40mm higher than deck.

STEP 2 Cut out shape using a jigsaw.

STEP 3 Trace shape on another piece of pine. Make this shape towards one edge to leave bulk of pine intact. Cut out with jigsaw. These 2 pieces will form basis of your bending jig.

STEP 4 Sand cut edge of template pieces using medium-grade sandpaper to fix cutting irregularities and make smooth.
