Keep your garage floor clutter-free with a handy rack on the wall
RACK 'EM UP

If you’re sick of tripping over your kids’ scooters and skateboards, and even more sick of telling them to pick them up, this is a project you’ll love. This handy scooter and skateboard rack keeps these notoriously difficult-to-store items off the floor and up on the wall instead. Your garage will be more sorted and you’ll also keep your sanity intact!

EASY STEPS TO MAKE YOUR SKATE AND SCOOTER RACK

Gather your supplies

• 184 x 19mm x 1.8m dressed pine (2)

• 25mm x3m Tasmanian oak dowel (1)

You’ll also need

Combination square; pencil; drill; countersinking drill bit; 30, 40 and 100mm screws; mitre saw; measuring tape; 25mm spade bit; masking tape; PVA glue; sander; furniture wax; cloth; spirit level

Here’s how

STEP 1 At both ends of 1 length of pine, use combination square to draw 45 lines across it from the corners. Draw more lines 20mm from these to act as guidelines for your screws Make the angles in the same direction at both ends. Which corner you mark from will decide the direction the rack will hang on the wall. Hold it up to check, remembering this is the back of the rack.

STEP 2 Mark points on these second lines 35mm from edges. Sit pine pieces together, then predrill and screw through these marks with 30mm screws to join them together.
