With Nisha JamVwal, interiors architect and our very own expert panellist
You can definitely keep your entire family happy by protecting your interiors from fur. Protect your sofas and all furniture with easy to change and wash loose covers that look chic and are manageable. I am a great fan of slipcovers and actually use them for all my interiors. Loose covers for sofas and dining chairs are hardy and hygienic in easy to wash cotton or cotton canvas fabric. You could choose cotton fabric woven into dramatic weaves and embossed abstracts that go with the appeal of natural stone flooring and wall finishes.
For floors, I’d advise you to avoid rugs and carpets until your baby has grown up a little, as they attract and hold onto fur and dust mites.
I recommend clean marble or tiled flooring that can be cleaned and swept regularly.
To reduce fur shedding by your pet I’d recommend you brush them regularly and ensure you administer vitamins like pet tabs that reduce pet hair shedding. I am a pet person and have maintained a very hygienic space with a furry one.
