From greenery and deep indigos to jacquards and metallics, take a good look at the fabrics waiting to rustle up a storm this year.
DEEP INDIGO
Whether it is your living room or bedroom, deep indigo comes with a feel-good factor. When applied to home furnishings, it is subtle and absorbs well in any decor palette. You can add modern day accessories in deep indigo — lamp shades, table mats, cushions and throws — to create a relaxing and refreshing setting. According to Arya Nerker, Head of Design – Home, Nicobar, “Looking towards Japan for inspiration, this season, deep indigos and soft blues when applied to furnishings or cushions will surely make a statement. Material wise, it is the use of perennial fabrics like raw silk and cotton with their slight textural play that will delight the eye and are good to feel.”
FLORAL
Florals are all-pervading when it comes to fabrics. They look great when applied on bed linen, cushions, curtains and upholstered furniture. Inspired by nature, fresh and flowering prints look lovely in a mix of colours and styles — both contemporary and traditional. Also, when applied on cotton or linen fabric, florals stand out on a neutral base like white and beige. “Extravagant floral patterns, embroidery, jacquards and lace are dominating trends and give rise to an astonishing fascination this coming year,” says Ramachandra Shastry, Director, Rumors Fine Furnishings.
