ZANG TOI OF HOUSE OF TOI
For Kelantan-born fashion designer Datuk Zang Toi, a home is a private sanctuary, one he looks forward to escaping to in the throes of his hectic work schedule. The fashion designer identifies his bedroom as his favourite space to be in. And, with his Antique Francois Linke bed dressed in custommade Leron sheets, hand-embroidered with his personal logo, it really is no surprise.
The designer’s 1,300 sqf apartment in Manhattan’s Upper East side flaunts a glamorous Louis XV style that embodies Datuk Zang Toi’s personal and professional life. Dressed to the nines in black and white with a high-ceiling, the home pays homage to the luxurious grand suite of his favourite hotel, the Ritz Paris.
The fashion designer goes on to reveal the must-have pieces in his home, naming them as: “My charcoal grey Loro Piana cashmere upholstered sofa bordered with black Saga Royal Mink, as well as a pair of black and white Marie Antoinette paintings by my favourite painter, Natasha Zupan.”
Datuk Zang Toi shares that he tremendously enjoyed the entire design process that went into recreating the gorgeous black and white ‘photograph’ aesthetics of his space, with the aim to emulate a chic Parisian apartment. “I was blessed to have the best contractor in town,” He says.
