Once having housed the Paramount Picture Studios headquarters, this charming, history-steeped building in Surry Hills Sydney is now home to Paramount House Hotel.
It’s early Spring when we pop in to Sydney, and as one might anticipate of Four Seasons Australian weather, there’s a nippy chill to the air. Strategically placed by the outdoor seating spaces of Paramount Coffee Project – a popular neighbourhood joint that shares the compound with the Paramount House Hotel, the Paramount Recreation Club, the Poly bar, the Golden Age Cinema and Bar, and The Office Space – a warming stand provides ample heat, a precursor to the kind of hospitality one might come to expect within.
We’re served with good, casual cheer, smiles in abundance amongst staffers on the lobby floor. A little deeper into the foyer that makes up Paramount Coffee Project’s dining space, the hotel’s lobby is a master class in sunlight and greenery. Beyond whitewashed walls adorned in greens, golds, and striking patterns reminiscent of the roaring twenties, the heart and soul of the establishment shines through: home, away from home.
