Southern California is all about a laid-back lifestyle, and no area encapsulates this more than the San Diego neighbourhood of La Jolla. Having a home on the beachfront of La Jolla Shores is particularly coveted, and this single-storey home has a full ocean view and is just steps from the sands of the iconic family-oriented surfing spot.
The white louvered blinds give the home a contemporary Amerfear vibe
The client, a successful single professional woman in her early 30s, works as an executive in her multi-generational family-owned business. She entrusted the renovation of this plum piece of real estate to Rhianna Jones of La Jolla-based Tidal Interiors, who could see the fantastic potential of the space. “We instantly connected with the client and knew it was a perfect fit for us. We both had the like-minded goal to elevate the space to create a sophisticated yet cosy abode,” recalls Rhianna.
The matching marble backsplash and countertop adds a luxurious feel to the kitchen.
During the client’s frequent work obligations on the East Coast, she would stay at The Surf Club at the Four Seasons in Florida, so it was unsurprising that she wanted her home to reflect the vibe and ambience of the hotel. “Our design goal was to replicate the relaxed yet chic surroundings interpreted for a southern California coastal home,” states Rhianna.
Instead of having more top shelving, the space above the sink has been transformed into a chic display area.
