WHO LIVES HERE
A bachelor in his 30s and a housemate
HOME A four-room resale HDB flat
SIZE 1,000 sq ft
The alchemy of a good home often comes down to the chemistry of its owner and its interior designer. Fortunately for marketing manager Nate Chong, that chemistry has been well-cultivated by years of being housemates with his interior designer Jerry Tan of Singapore and KL-based studio Ally Wong Interior. “Since we were housemates before, Jerry has already understood my style and what I wanted for my future home,” shares Nate.
The four-room resale HDB flat in Sengkang retains all three of its existing bedrooms, but altered nearly all the finishing materials and storage spaces. The resulting aesthetic is decidedly industrial, featuring a dark material palette that balances finishes with wabi-sabi patina with sleek details that range from pragmatic to playful.
Curiously, the word ‘industrial’ itself was not present in Nate’s original design brief for Jerry.
