Turn Heads With Tiles

On trend! The so-called KitKat pattern is currently very popular.

The vanity is a sideboard that was customised in a mid-century modern style, with the same tiles used on the top as on the wall. Heidi Masters, head of marketing at Alcolin, offers the following advice: “Alcolin Flexi-Tiler is a paste with excellent adhesion and flexibility, which makes it suitable for use on a beautiful piece of furniture such as this. Make sure the wood is clean and dry, apply the adhesive to the wood (it’s ready for use) and press the tiles into it. Give it 24 hours to dry before finishing off with a cement-based grout. Don’t apply grout before the adhesive has dried or the tiles may come loose later.”

Long gone are the days of plain white tiles in bathrooms. Say hello to unique artisanal tiles in various shapes, sizes, textures and colours! Renovators now have the opportunity to create something truly spectacular.

While most bespoke tiles come with quite a hefty price tag, this shouldn’t put you off as only a square metre or two is needed to create an effective focal point. Consider a feature wall or a focal floor just in the shower, or a splashback behind the basin.
