Nadya’s kitchen extension is a stand-out sociable space filled with carefully curated second-hand finds

Riot of colour
Tempting though it is to go neutral in your kitchen, a splash of colour can make a space feel bigger and brighter – and inspire creativity. Going bold is a surefire way to make an impact – on your mood, and also on guests’ first impressions.

Nadya Powell and her husband made color their priority when they took on the renovation of a rather unique Edwardian property. Tasked with removing a huge illicit outdoor structure before they could extend, the couple juggled the ambitious project alongside work and family life – but the hard work has paid off. Working with kitchen design company Pluck, and with sustainability a central concern, they’ve created a stunning sociable space for cooking, eating, and relaxing, with a showstopping pink kitchen at its heart. Nadya tells us how they did it.
