With the multitude of options available, selecting windows and doors for your home is no easy feat. We spoke to the experts who share a few pointers to guide you along your decision-making process.

THE LATEST WINDOW AND DOOR TRENDS

In terms of colour, one of the biggest trends we are seeing at the moment is black windows and doors, says Fair Deal Windows and Doors owner Gustav Pansegrouw. “Black gives the home that minimalist feel that most people are after. It is simple, appealing, eye-catching and contemporary. If used correctly, black can make a space seem bigger, making it a favourite colour among interior designers.” He says white will remain a timeless and classic colour for windows and doors and as such will never lose its appeal.

Fenster Aluminium sales director Panos Tsouroullas has found that over the past few years, the trends in South Africa have shifted from standard sizes, colours and configurations to custom-made windows and doors that allow for bigger openings and different colour options that suit the application, allowing for each home to showcase its unique style. “This has allowed architects to be more creative and work outside the normal parameters that they were previously forced to work with.”
