Living room Since the homeowner's hosts often, they wanted a space that was more open and welcoming. Rei replaced a set of sliding doors with a media. console and added a glass pane that looks out into the dining space at the balcony so the two zones feel more connected. The open space also allows the cats to roam freely, which was a big consideration in the home's design.
The Brief
For their second residence together, business owners Joseph Ho, Co-Founder of lighting company Sol Luminaire and Evon Chng, Fashion Director at Beastcorp, a digital creative agency, sought a more inviting and welcoming space that better suited their current stage in life. Their previous home was monochromatic and dark, and the fresh change reflects how their tastes have changed, shares Evon. Our Pinterest board consisted mostly of European homes, she reveals. It wasn't anything unusual per se, but we were going for something that was hard to achieve or not seen or done (yet) in Singapore. This approach is completely fitting considering the pair both make a living seeking out the latest and best in their respective fields.
While each has honed their own keen and distinct design point of view, the creative couple agreed on most things when it came to the decor of their 2,200sq ft apartment. We wanted it to feel warm, airy, and bright. To feel soft and incorporate curves. For it to feel like a museum or a space where we would look forward to coming home to, Evon tells us. Collaborating with ARKHILITE to bring their vision to life was an easy choice as they've known Rei Ye, a Senior Design Ambassador at the interior firm, for some time.
