We met at Sixth Form in Nantwich in 2005, but we didn’t get together until 2011, says Izzie. For the proposal, we were away after New Year at a lodge in Yorkshire with our dog, Harry. One evening we were talking about holidays and where we should go next. I suggested Santorini, but commented it was more of a honeymoon destination. Rich said ‘someone needs to propose first’. I answered, ‘yes, they do,’ with some impatience – we’d been together for more than six years and I was dropping hints quite heavily by this point. Then he brought out the engagement ring; it was made with stones from my great-grandma's brooch, which made it even more perfect.
We went for a book theme, with our invitations and orders of service designed to look like Pelican books and our table names were all book titles. We had a dusky blue colour scheme with the suits and bridesmaid dresses and in the flowers too.
