It was February 14, 2005, and little did Asherah know that she would meet the love of her life at the concert she was going for. Shehan didn’t know anything about love at first sight till he first set eyes on Asherah. How would they know anything about that? They were both only 15 years old! In May 2005, Shehan asked Asherah out at a KFC car park and she said ‘yes’! Today, Asherah and Shehan Gomez are living a life of love and understanding.
In pursuit of higher education, the couple flew to Malaysia together and 10 years into their relationship, Shehan figured it was the ideal time to pop the question. One day, after having partied till 5 AM, Asherah just wanted to dine in but Shehan persuaded her to go out for dinner with him. When Asherah caught a glimpse of the 7-course dinner she suspected the possibility of a proposal and got nervous because she despised it taking place in public even though she was dying to be proposed to by the man she loves so much. The dinner is cut short and they went home to Asherah’s relief and a tinge of disappointment. Except she had no clue that Shehan did indeed plan to propose to her that night and that it would happen back at home where their friends had already decorated the entire place and were ready for them to get home.
Cut to four years later, they are now married and still going strong! Theirs is the type of relationship that books are written about. Naturally, I had to find out everything I could about what constitutes the perfect love story such as theirs.
Q/ Quite often simple attraction is misinterpreted as love and when the going gets tough and imperfections of a partner are revealed, things fall apart. Isn’t it infatuation at first sight that later develops into love?
