How does it feel to be the son of the hospitality stalwart Late Mr. Lalit Suri? How easy or difficult was it to carry forward the legacy?
It was a lot of pressure, both my parents Late Mr. Lalit Suri and Dr. Jyotsna Suri have been superstars in the hospitality industry. They believed in putting in their hundred percent in the work. I did not realize that they had made it so big till I went for my graduation to University of Warwick, where I was identified as their son. The pressure was good in my case as I always wanted to make them proud.
Tell us more about your role and vision behind the expansion of the group.
When my father passed away ten years ago, we had four hotels. Today we stand strong with 13 hotels including India and London. We also have a hotel and hospitality school coming up in Ahemadabad. We have also focused on developing in house brands like the nightclub ‘Kitty Su’ which is running successfully in four cities namely New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chandigarh other than that we have our Pan Asian restaurant ‘Oko’ which is available in three cities Bangalore, Chandigarh and New Delhi. We are the only hotel chain in the country to have introduced our own food truck. We have also ventured into budget hotels with ‘The Lalit Traveller’.
