Binod Chaudhary is Nepal’s first (and apparently only) self-made billionaire. In his new autobiography, Making It Big, he recounts his journey to becoming Chairman of CG Corp Global, a multinational conglomerate with a portfolio of over 160 companies and 123 brands in 27 countries, and his dreams for the future.
For a man from a third world country who entered his modest family business at age 18, and first rose to acclaim through launching popular noodle brand Wei Wei, his story and book are certainly inspiring. Perhaps the most simple yet profound advice he gives is this: “It all starts with dreaming. You have to dream big.” It might sound like a cliché, yet, as the only Nepalese to be listed as a dollar billionaire by Forbes, this man clearly dreams big! Here are some key takeaways from our interview with Binod that may inspire you to dream big in 2021, too.
Tell us a bit about your new book.
Life is a journey; you meet so many people and have so many encounters that are interesting to record, store and preserve. Then there are incidents and life events that have made a lasting impact on you personally and have impacted many lives. I believe that my book had to be written to record my legacy and that of my forefathers; our success was not served to us on a silver platter. I also wrote this book for humanity at large.
How do you think your book will help readers?
We all have aspirations; with my book, I want to give a sense of hope and optimism. I want people to know that nothing stops you from achieving.
You’ve attained unimaginable success. What’s left to achieve?
