Valentine's Day At Dempsey Hill

The ultimate in romance: Moonbow

If it’s a romantic night you’re looking for, then elegant and intimate Moonbow is the place to go. Chef Heman – well known locally as the “Iron Man Chef” – serves up innovative, modern European cuisine with Asian influences, crafted with the finest ingredients. Refreshing cocktails and beautiful meals are served in an elegant indoor space or on an outdoor terrace that takes in views of historical barracks set against jungle greenery.

Dinner here isn’t just about the food either – it’s more like a multi-sensory eating experience. The meal even starts a special way. As a little boy, Chef Heman couldn’t afford candy floss; now he makes sure everybody who walks through his door gets this special treat. Fun and yummy!

A gastronomic adventure follows, in the form of stunning dishes served on handcrafted ceramic plates made by the chef himself. (Is there anything he can’t do?) Start with Moonbow Oyster Bay, delicate premium oysters ice-smoked at the table and topped with yuzu gel, cucumber pearl and yuzu granita with a side of oyster leaves. Or opt for the Crustaceans Bisque or the Jerusalem Artichoke Soup, complete with 64-degree sous vide egg and caviar.

Meat lovers will enjoy the perfectly grilled, untrimmed four-day aged Young Pork Tomahawk made with roasted garlic, caramelised lime, pineapple compote and a delicious barbecue glaze. Another favourite is Salmon Fish & Chips, brined fish deep-fried in a light, flavourful batter and served with mashed edamame, potato “rock” and honey mustard dip. Then there’s the Black Berry Four-Grain Healthy Rice with Roasted Pork Jowl “Ton Toro”, a dish that the chef created for his mother.
