Admit It; Some Of Us Are Always On The Lookout Or Asking Ourselves When Our Windfall Is Going To Happen. Vasenta Selvanayagam Reveals How Liv Lo Inspired Her To Work Towards Building Her Own Empire And How To Be Her Own Superstar Instead Of Counting On Others.

I still remember coming home from work one Friday night. As I sat down on my sofa and scrolled through Instagram, I asked myself, “How much longer would I be doing this?” As much as I enjoyed my job, my energy was starting to drain and I wondered, “How do some girls like Liv Lo get so lucky to the extent that she most probably doesn’t have to work for the rest of her life since she’s married to Henry Golding, Malaysia’s leading Hollywood actor?”

I fell asleep that day thinking about the luxurious and fabulous life that Liv leads, and woke up with the opportunity to meet this woman in person and interview her face to face. As the saying goes, do not judge a book by its cover because talking to Liv made me realise that despite being married to a famous actor, she is in fact her own boss and she is able to sustain herself at all costs.

Peace, love and yoga

Married to 2018’s hottest star of the year after the release of Crazy Rich Asians, Liv was born and raised in Taichung, Taiwan, where she resided with her biological mum and adopted dad. “People often ask me about my Italian heritage. I am half-Taiwanese and half-Italian but I’ve never seen my biological dad. I’m Asian and I’m proud of that, and if anything, I feel bad for the man who spent his life raising me up in Taiwan (my adopted dad who has given me everything I’ve ever needed).

“Prior to moving to Singapore, I was based in Tokyo, Japan, for five years where I completed my Bachelors in Mass Communication at the Temple University of Japan while I worked as a part-time model. The decision to move to Singapore came about after I met Henry. He moved from Malaysia to Singapore in 2011 so the following year, I took a leap of faith and decided to join him there. I figured the move will also help me in my career,” explains Liv.
