Over the past few months, our love for all things Nordic has blossomed exponentially. From last December’s desire to achieve hygge with all the hot chocolate (and marshmallows) and cosy blankets, to replacing all our bulky furniture with everything Ikea, we have never strived to imitate a cultural aesthetic so much. If Google searches are to be believed, 2016’s Danish lifestyle obsession hygge has given way to lagom – another Scandi buzzword we’ll no doubt be pronouncing wrong till the end of 2017 (FYI, it’s pronounced ‘lawgum’). The term is all about celebrating frugality, fairness and balance to find contentment. It comes form the phrase Lagom är bäst, which literally translates as ‘the right amount is best’. And who better to teach us about there being virtue in moderation than the good folk at Dutch label Vero Moda?
