Maximum results, minimum downtime. Ritu Bhatia discovers the best lunchtime treatments

It’s possible to avoid scalpels and needles altogether with non-invasive therapies that involve lasers, light, and ultrasound treatments

IT’S THE ERA OF GLOWING SKIN. And today, skin rejuvenation techniques are relatively painless, covering the entire gamut of concerns including pigmentation, spots, wrinkles, sagging, and dryness. Better still, it’s possible to avoid scalpels and needles altogether with noninvasive therapies that involve lasers, light, and ultrasound treatments. What’s more there’s no downtime. They offer an easy and discreet route for anyone who wants to look great quickly.

Of course, just getting a treatment does not guarantee great skin. “It’s important to have realistic expectations, since the impact varies on individuals, depending upon skin type, exposure to UV light, and so on. In general, cosmetic procedures work best on healthy skin that has been well cared for,” says Dr Nina Madnani, dermatology consultant, P.D. Hinduja National Hospital, and Sir HN Reliance Hospital, Mumbai.

Before you step into a skin clinic, it’s best to make a list of what aspects of your face you’d like to address. Are you self-conscious about your double chin? Or do you simply want a clear complexion with fewer wrinkles? “We begin by evaluating the skin for texture, sensitivity and degree of wrinkling, pigmentation and so on,” says Dr Chiranjiv Chhabra, dermatologist and founder, Skin Alive Clinic, Delhi. Another factor that must be taken into account is your medical history. “A chronic disease, like diabetes, can also delay the impact of some treatments. We also advise those who are on certain medications to avoid some rejuvenation procedures,” explains Dr Indu Ballani, dermatologist and MD, Ballani Skin Clinic, Delhi.
