You may have heard that you should care for your scalp as you do your face. The truth is, you need to treat your scalp better.
Here’s why: The nutrient-rich blood carried through the scalp helps with hair growth. The skin on the scalp is thicker than the skin on your face, and has more sebaceous glands. These glands produce sebum, which protects hair but can also clog hair follicles.
So, straighten out your haircare routine. Wash your hair with room-temperature water – anything too hot will dry out the scalp; too cold and the follicles contract, reducing the effectiveness of cleansing.
Also, when massaging your scalp, use the pads of your fingers; nails can irritate and scratch it.
