ISCHELLE ONG & ENG ZI HAO
For our destination portraits, Zi Hao and I were inspired by wedding shoots done in Europe during the year-end festive season. We especially love the ambience and mood during Christmas.
Instead of flying a photographer over from Singapore, we decided to work with photographers in London as we believed they would be more familiar with the shoot locations and conditions.
We did our research via social media, and chose photographers based on recommendations by other couples.
We visited a carnival for one of our shoots, and the experience was fun and chill. We did not plan anything specific; Rebecca, our photographer, just followed us around while we played the games and sat on the rides.
Shooting while spinning on the high swing at the carnival was incredibly exhilarating as it was going faster and higher than it might look in the photos. We were trying really hard to put on pretty expressions while trying not to freak out!
HER TIPS & ADVICE
Be open and flexible to changes in your plan, and to your photographer’s suggestions.
While Zi Hao and I did some planning ahead when it came to the specific locations we wanted, some of the shoots did not turn out the way we envisioned because of the change in seasons and crowd traffic.
We had to improvise by going to random spots such as back alleyways. Those photos turned out pretty nice too!
JOYCELYN THIANG & QUAK WEE HOW
Both of us love taking scenic road trips when we travel, so we wanted to do an outdoor prewedding shoot overseas with beaches, waterfalls and mountains. Bali fit the bill perfectly.
Every photographer has their own distinct style, so we made sure to do our research before we decided on Luxio Photo.
