DROP OF THE POPS!
Hi-Fi Choice|April 2022
With so many goodies on offer for Record Store Day 2022, HFC has scoured the list to pick out a few treasures for your delectation. Here's what we discovered
DROP OF THE POPS!

After a couple of years innovating around COVID restrictions, for 2022 Record Store Day has reverted to its original programme so the event will take place internationally on one day: Saturday 23 April. Involving nearly 250 independent record shops across the UK, it will see tons of special collectable items released, some limited editions, some picture discs, some available for the first time ever and some specially created for the occasion.

Of course, it wouldn't be Record Store Day without a special David Bowie release and this year there are two new titles to add to your collection: Brilliant Adventure and Toy. Brilliant Adventure is a 12in EP pressed on 180g black vinyl via Parlophone featuring previously unheard tracks from the Outside era. Johnny Downloader - an early version of I'm Afraid Of Americans recorded during the sessions with Brian Eno for the album and mixed in November 1994, but not released on a Bowie album until 1997's Earthling - an alternative single mix of I Have Not Been To Oxford Town and two tracks (Outside's A Small Plot Of Land and the Jacques Brel cover My Death, performed by Bowie and pianist Mike Garson at a fundraiser for the New York Public Theatre at the Shakespeare Festival in New York on 18th September, 1995).
