A Fine Line

Natural light, luxurious textures and sharply drawn black outlines are the staples of Tali and Hillel’s chic family home.

A Fine Line

It’s said that the best house parties always end up in the kitchen.

But can a great house design start in the bathroom? That’s how it began for Tali Stein and her husband Hillel Zidel when they decided to rethink their London home. ‘The one thing I knew I wanted in this house was an industrial-feel bathroom,’ explains Tali. ‘I had an image in my head of sleek, smooth tiling and curvaceous modern basins – very simple, very textural. That was our starting point.’

Once that room was nailed, it became a template for the rest of the house. ‘It’s an unusual approach, but it worked!’ says Tali. To help them achieve their goal, Tali and Hillel brought in Sacha Berger of Honey Bee Interiors. She added matt-black taps to the bathroom and those clean black lines became a motif that’s repeated subtly throughout the interior spaces. ‘Sacha totally got what I wanted from the bathroom and, after that, I knew we were on the same page,’ says Tali. ‘From there, we began to rethink all the other areas in the house, with clean matt-black lines and interesting textures. This is a project that grew organically – each room is individual, but they all flow.’
