Interior designer Leanne Ford has given a warm-white twist to her Pittsburgh home using texture, natural materials and greenery – it’s a look that’s out-there fresh.
‘I have a sixth sense about how an interior should look,’ says interior designer Leanne Ford. ‘On my first walk-through of this property, the walls were painted crazy colours – purple and lime green – and I was just, “Oh, this is so beautiful!” What I saw then is the finished result you see now!’ (A long way from purple and lime green.)
‘Of course, it’s always a longer and more expensive process than I imagine,’ adds Leanne, ‘but I conveniently ignore that part because I just want to get it done. I’ve never been defeated, but I have been close…’
Defeat was never really an option when it came to renovating this Forties farmhouse. For a start, it’s in Leanne’s hometown of Pittsburgh. ‘It’s in a neighbourhood close to where I grew up,’ she explains. ‘As a kid, I’d always notice it; it was pretty neglected and I remember wishing the owners would just give it a coat of white paint.’
