Margie Barger of Greenwood turns on her Christmas spirit very early in the season, preparing homes all over the state for the holidays. A speech-language pathologist by career, Margie designs and develops individualized treatment plans for each of her patients. The same careful attention is paid to her design clients. She can immediately get a sense of a family’s personality and style upon entering their home. Her clients extend from Greenwood and Yazoo City to Madison and Fairhope, Alabama, and each household receives its own unique holiday spin. “I think one of the most wonderful components is seeing and hearing all of the families’ special traditions and memories,” Margie notes. “There is something neat about a family sharing those times with you.”
From winding yards of fabrics and ribbons through a family’s beloved collection of ornaments to displaying heirloom nativity sets with fresh greenery and building tiers of garland with stems of fresh flowers and ornaments, Margie creates extravagant and sentimental focal points for each client. In her own home, which she shares with husband Alan and their two boys (with their third due this holiday season), Margie has created an eclectic mix of modern and farmhouse styles. Most pieces in their home have memories attached, yet Margie has adjusted color stories and details to make them suit her family’s lifestyle and her personality. Combined with a collection of modern art, the color and playfulness in the home results in a very family-friendly space.
